Widener Law’s strategic campus locations offer unusually rich externship opportunities. You will earn academic credit, hone research and writing skills, and get immersed in the day-to-day working life of practicing attorneys and judges. Second- and third-year externships provide you with opportunities to work with judges, state and local prosecutors, public defenders, and legal service and government agencies.

Students at our Delaware Campus participate in clinical public interest externships with successful attorneys in government and public service law offices; judicial externships with Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and federal judges; health law externships with various hospitals and organizations; or global law externships with an international governmental or non-governmental organization or an office of the US government that is engaged in international activities. Students at our Harrisburg Campus can extern with state agencies, counties, the Commonwealth, state supreme courts, state representatives and senators, the Maryland Office of Attorney General, and more through our clinical and judicial externship programs. Many externship placements result in contacts and references for future employment.
