Are you interested in learning about the legal system from the judicial side? If so, the Harrisburg Judicial Externship program is just what you’re looking for. As a third-year Widener Law student on the Harrisburg campus, you can obtain academic credit while working in the chambers of a judge, observing judicial proceedings, drafting documents, and conducting legal research for the court.
The externship program offers a wonderful opportunity to familiarize yourself with the local legal community and gain valuable contacts and references. As an extern, you will participate in a weekly classroom component in addition to the work you do for the court. The Harrisburg Judicial Externship Program offers you a great combination of practical experience, network building, and the opportunity to improve your legal research and writing skills. Past participants in the program have enjoyed placement with:
- The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
- The Superior Court of Pennsylvania
- Commonwealth Court
- United States District Court
- Court of Common Pleas, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Northumberland, Wayne, and York counties.
