Dr. Ahmed holds a PhD from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Master's degree in Criminology, LLM in International and Comparative Law from the Dickinson Law School, another Masters in Economics, and LLB. Dr. Ahmed served as a legal, linguistic and intelligence anaylst and has applied these skills for the Pennsylvania Crime Commission (Middle Atlantic Great Lakes Organized Law Enforcement Network) and for the Department of Justice. A lawyer overseas, he has served as Assistant Judge Advocate General, Deputy Adjutant General and Operations Supervisor in Provost Marshal's branch.

An Indian by birth, Dr. Ahmed is also a neo-classical criminologist who has seen both academic as well as professional facets of his specialization in international terrorism. He saw combat in nations that are laced with weapons of mass destruction and steeped in religious radicalism. He successfully led counter terrorism operations in what are now hot-beds of terrorism. His dissertation, a logit analysis of the terrorist 'rationality' encompassing almost three decades of international terrorist incidents focussed on terrorist tactics, targets, risks, success, failure, learning and counter terrorism strategies.

Professor Ahmed has taught a wide range of courses in Law, Economics, Political Science, Statistics and Mathematics, International Terrorism, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Research Methods, and Intelligence Analysis. He brings this knowledge to the classroom in analyzing international terrorism, offering explanations and strategies to fight the global war on terror. Students will enjoy his seminar on Law and Bioterrorism.
