Mr. Baxter graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. from Boston College in 1986. Thereafter, Mr. Baxter attended Rutgers Law School and earned his J.D. in 1989 with honors. While at Rutgers, Mr. Baxter was an associate editor of the Rutgers Law Journal and authored a published article on “Free and Appropriate Education” cited in 20 Rutgers L.J. 561 (1988).

Mr. Baxter began his legal career at the Philadelphia firm of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads. In 1995, Mr. Baxter founded his current firm, Law Offices Christopher L. Baxter (formerly Baxter & Kourlesis), and has been a partner in the firm since its inception.

Mr. Baxter has handled a wide variety of legal matters, both civil and criminal. He has served as solicitor for several municipalities, as a governor appointed commissioner for the Board of Elections, and as legislative counsel for the Burlington County Welfare Board. He also served as a municipal prosecutor for over 11 years in multiple towns in Burlington County, New Jersey and has significant trial experience at the municipal and superior court levels.

Mr. Baxter currently limits his practice to criminal and DWI defense. Every year since 2009, Mr. Baxter has been selected by attorney peer voting as the top DWI defense attorney in South Jersey Magazine.
