Matthew I. Hirsch is a solo practitioner based in Wayne, Pennsylvania. In 1985, he joined the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service as a Trial Attorney assigned to the New York District. As a Trial Attorney for INS, Hirsch represented the United States government in hundreds of proceedings involving such matters as deportation, exclusion, asylum, adjustment of status, suspension of deportation and similar matters. He also worked on special assignments for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

Since leaving the INS, Hirsch has concentrated his practice in immigration law, primarily in the area of employment and family-based immigration. He has served as Chair of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association ("AILA") and currently serves on several national committees for AILA. In addition, since 1993, Mr. Hirsch has been an Adjunct Professor of Immigration Law at the Widener University School of Law in Delaware. In recent years, he has been a regular speaker on immigration law and immigration history for foreign students and their advisors, lawyers and human resource professionals.

Mr. Hirsch has served as an Associate Editor of AILA's Stanton Manual on Labor Certification and his articles have been published in AILA's Immigration Law Today, The Visa Processing Guide and Consular Practice Handbook, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute's Immigration Law Seminar and in AILA's Immigration and Nationality Law Handbook for 2005-06.

In the area of business immigration, Mr. Hirsch works extensively with transnational hiring, helping business clients and their employees to navigate the complexities of U.S. immigration law. His clients include multinational consulting firms, financial institutions, hospitals and universities, health care institutions, manufacturing and industrial firms, professional sports teams and a wide range of technology companies.
