Applicants will benefit not only from the strength of both academic programs but from a condensed schedule dual degree that will put the applicant in the job market with a strategic advantage. This program allows students to accelerate both degrees by reducing the required credits from 62 credits (if both programs are completed consecutively) to 48 credits. Students who successfully complete the program will receive two separate degrees and may attend both commencement ceremonies, if desired.

Program Overview

Widener Law's Master of Jurisprudence in Corporate and Business Law (MJ)
Navigating the laws and regulations affecting daily business operations can be daunting. A legal education in corporate and business law can help individuals ensure their organization is compliant with the laws and regulations applicable to their industry.

The Master of Jurisprudence (MJ) in Corporate and Business Law is designed for those seeking graduate-level training in legal analysis and regulatory compliance in a corporate, business, non-profit or government environment. Positions benefiting from such training include corporate management, compliance officers, risk managers, audit managers, government and agency officials, and many other positions in corporate-related or non-profit environments.

Widener Law’s MJ in Corporate and Business Law provides legal education with a focus on corporate law and regulatory compliance. Students learn from practitioners in the heart of corporate and business law and compliance who impart real-life experience and seek to equip students with skills necessary for success in today’s corporate and business environment. The courses focus on the elements of a compliance program, including how to develop, implement, maintain, train, audit, and monitor such a program. Students will also be immersed in the laws and regulations that impact businesses in their quest to be compliant. Provided entirely online, the program does not require an on-campus immersion, thereby making it a convenient educational option.

While the MJ/MBA is delivered online, Widener Law School has had a presence in the State of Delaware since 1975. With over one million companies incorporated in Delaware, there is no better place to pursue an MJ/MBA than Widener.

The Compliance Certification Board
Widener Law’s MJ programs are accredited by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB) and hold membership in the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE). The CCB offers a certification exam in compliance to become a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), for which successful completion of Widener’s MJ/MBA program waives the CCB’s requirement of 1500 hours of work experience in compliance for eligibility to sit for one of its exams.

During the capstone course in Widener’s MJ program, students will work through simulations to resolve compliance issues and practice mock CCB exam questions.
