Doctor of Laws in Health Law
A doctoral program designed for graduates of either a Master of Jurisprudence (M.J.) or a Master of Juridical Science (M.S.J) in Health Law program, the Doctor of Laws (D.L.) will enhance your expertise in health law. In this program, you will engage in exhaustive research and immerse yourself in an individualized program while working towards the completion of your dissertation.

D.L. Application Procedure:
The D.L. is an intensive effort in research, writing, and analysis. The candidate must demonstrate capacity to do sustained, high-level work. With that in mind, the candidate must submit the following materials in support of the application:
  • A writing sample that demonstrates the candidate’s abilities in writing, research, and analysis. For most candidates, this will be the seminar paper used to fulfill the writing requirement for the M.J. degree. However, the candidate may submit any writing sample of his or her choice.
  • A brief statement of the proposed dissertation topic, accompanied by an outline. It is recommended that the candidate discuss the topic with a member of the health law faculty with knowledge of the topic before submitting these materials. The Director of the Health Law Institute will be available to direct the applicant to an appropriate faculty member.
  • A personal statement, describing the applicant’s reasons for seeking the degree.
