Widener Law’s Law and Inequality Project is dedicated to understanding inequalities in the law. Open to all students, faculty, and staff of the Widener Law community as well as other interested parties, the Law and Inequality Project focuses on economic and trait-based inequalities such as gender or racial discrimination, inequity based on disability, or discrimination based on sexual orientation. The project has both an action and an academic component.
Positive Action
As part of the Law & Inequality Project, you can support efforts to address inequities in the community. Participate in community education programs, legal needs assessments, legislative or administrative advocacy, or provide legal services to needy individuals. Your participation offers you numerous opportunities to improve and practice important legal skills as well as build important relationships that will help you as you pursue a professional legal career.
The Academic Component
The Project sponsors a web-based clearinghouse for information about law and inequality, and supports research, writing, and teaching focusing on related subjects. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate in annual regional, national, and international symposia on topics related to law and inequality.
