Kenya is blessed with an abundance of palm-fringed sugar beaches and a coral reef that extends the entire length of the Indian Ocean coast. The beaches north and south of Mombasa are about 300 miles from Nairobi and reachable by train, plane or bus ride. After the second week of classes (June 25-28), we help arrange a group trip to Diani Beach on the Indian Ocean 20 miles south of the port city of Mombasa. You will swim and snorkel in the coral reef protected waters and experience the lifestyle and culture of the Swahili people. We will stay at the Baobob Beach Resort hotel right on Diani Beach. www.baobab-beach-resort.com
For those who wish to travel after the program there are also beach houses for rent.
North of Mombasa there are more beaches at Watamu and Malindi, and the famous Gedi Ruins. Just off the northern coast lies the unspoiled paradise of Lamu Island. You will not find a more relaxing setting than this stronghold of Swahili culture. For several years, members have fallen in love with the nearby pristine island of Zanzibar for its beautiful beaches and excellent diving. Others have journeyed to the Indian Ocean islands of Madagascar, Mauritius, and the Seychelles. There are far more things to do in and around Kenya than you will have time to explore.Standard Disclaimer for External Links
