Student Event Planning Guidelines
Event Planning Tips
Planning, organizing, and hosting a student event is a very rewarding experience that organizations should take advantage of, but it is useful to keep a few general tips in mind.

Tip #1: Plan Ahead!
When putting together any student event, it is best to draw up a general plan and schedule well ahead of time. Check what dates will work best and make sure to leave enough lead-time for proper organization.

Tip #2: Get Approved!
Read over the Student Event Planning Checklist and make sure that you have a handle on the important steps necessary to get your event approved. It is especially important to make sure that there are no conflicts on the date that you would like to have the event and that you have cleared the room requirements with the Registrar’s Office. In addition, make sure that you know what supplemental forms you might need to fill out such as food service requests. Links to the relevant forms are provided above.

Tip #3: Advertise!
Make sure that people know about the great event you have planned by taking advantage of the available methods of advertising, including the Electronic Bulletin Board or campus flyers. Remember that if there will be outside advertising that you will need additional approvals as detailed on the Student Event Approval Checklist.
