ITS recommends the following specifications when purchasing a computer:
- Windows XP / Vista / Windows 7
- 2GB or more RAM
- 120GB or larger hard drive
- CD-RW burner
- Microsoft Office 2000/XP/2003/2007/2010, not Microsoft Works!*
- Antivirus software (Symantec, Norton, McAfee, etc)+
- Firewall software (Zone Alarm, Sygate, etc)
- ITS recommends purchasing a 4 year, 24/7 on-site warranty if available
*Available through special AICUP pricing on the Widener University site. Widener provides Symantec Anti-Virus software to students free of charge. The software is available at the ITS Office.

Widener has teamed up with DELL to offer educational
discounts on new computers for Widener University students, faculty, and staff. Use the link on the left to access the Educational store where you can see discounts up to 12%. If you decide to purchase a computer online, you will be prompted to create a login. The Office of Information Technology Services has negotiated this program with DELL, however, all questions and support concerns should be addressed directly to DELL. |

If you are a student, teacher, administrator or staff member, you are eligible for special pricing on a full range of Apple and third-party products. The discounts do not span across all of the Apple products but in some cases, the discounts on certain items can range from 10-15%. |

CDW-G is the third party vendor that offers educational discounts on hardware, software, peripherals and more. Widener University pleased to announce that faculty, students and staff are now eligible for the special government/education pricing on personal purchases through CDW-G. |
