Fall 2009 Welcome
To: All 2009 / 20010 School of Law Students
From:  Gary Stelzig, Chief of Campus Safety
Subject: Welcome to 2009-2010 Students

I welcome all of you to our campus. I sincerely hope your time at Widener is both productive and enjoyable. Please review the following:

Safety is a shared responsibility
We need your assistance and I encourage all of you to report anything that you may consider suspicious. Please visit the Campus Safety website for information on our crime stats, services, safety and security policies, and The Campus Alert System.

Physical security of your car and personal property
Please keep your car locked at all times. I also ask that you not leave bags and personal items unattended in public places. The local area experiences a lot of parked car theft, please secure items in the trunk of your car.

Campus Courtesy Phones
Campus phones are located in both residence lobbies and at the entrances to the Law building and Pollishook Hall. Please acquaint yourself with the location of these phones (see website) and call x 2200 if you require our assistance.

Parking
Please ensure that you have a valid decal or pass for your vehicle. Vehicles without proper decals or passes will be ticketed, and repeat offenders will be treated as suspicious and reported to the police for possible citations or removal. I ask that you drive slowly through our lots as there is always a good bit of pedestrian traffic throughout our campus. I also request that you park only in authorized parking spots, (that means between two yellow lines, or two blue lines with proper handicap tag or decal). Please do not move cones or other markings that our Officer’s use to designate reserved or special events parking locations.

Noise Complaint
Please call our office if you wish to have us resolve any kind of noise complaint. We are committed to preserving an environment that is conducive to the study of law.

Notification of Police

Please call us prior to or immediately after calling 911. Please call us if you wish to speak to the local police for any reason.

Here to Help
We are on duty in Concord Hall 24 hours a day. We are here to help so please do not hesitate to ask. We can assist with lock problems and all sorts of things. You will see us on patrol at all hours of the day both on our bikes and in the patrol car. We hope all of you have a good experience at Widener and with you the best of luck.
