Accessing the Collection
The library web site and catalog may be accessed from computers found in the Legal Information Center or from any computer by visiting
law.widener.edu/library.
All Widener University library holdings are included in the
online catalog, including the main campus library's holdings. For detailed instructions on how to make the best use of this resource see the LibCat User Guide.
Audio/Visual Materials The Legal Information Center maintains a collection of audio and videotapes which are available for classroom use.
Several interactive CD programs produced by Practising Law Institute are available for skills-based courses.
CALI Lessons The CALI lessons are a collection of computer based, interactive, legal instruction exercises prepared by law school faculty. The lessons provide drill and review on over 100 legal subjects.
CALI can be accessed at the
CALI website. Contact the Reference Desk (x2114 in Delaware, x3933 in Harrisburg) for the authorization code.
Computer Support For help with the PCs in the library or any software on the Delaware campus, contact

The library has several laptop computers available for check out by faculty for limited time periods. On the Delaware campus, contact

Course Reserve Materials All current editions of hornbooks and nutshells are located permanently on reserve.
Faculty handouts, books and/or exams may be placed on Reserve for student use. Fill out this form and return it to the library circulation supervisor on your campus.

Interlibrary Loan To borrow a book or other item from another Widener campus library, use the Library Catalog Request Function:
- Find the item you want in the library catalog.
- Click on the blue "Request" button, fill in your name and barcode number (without spaces), and your request will be forwarded to the library.
To borrow materials not owned by any Widener Library, use the
Interlibrary Loan form.
Legal Research Guides Our reference librarians have completed a number of
research guides on a variety of legal topics.
Notary Service Notary service is available on the Delaware campus.

Reference Services Highly qualified Reference Librarians are available to assist with research techniques, questions about the collection, and interlibrary loan. Reference Librarians can also be called upon to make classroom presentations on both print and electronic resources or to prepare selected subject bibliographies.

Suggesting Titles for Acquisition Faculty are encouraged to recommend books for purchase by the Legal Information Center. You will be notified when the book is received.

- Legal Scholarship Network publishes electronic journals consisting of working and accepted papers, author contact information and conference announcements. Subscribe here.
- Recent Library Acquisitions List: A list of books recently added to the library's collection. It is also distributed bimonthly by email.
- SmartCILP is a personalized weekly email delivery of Current Index to Legal Periodicals.
- Both Lexis and Westlaw offer clipping or alerting services.
Faculty Liaison ProgramEach full time faculty member has a librarian appointed as faculty liaison. Check the

Faculty Publications The Legal Information Center compiles a list of faculty publications three times a year: in September, January and June. (Only the September issue is distributed to faculty.)
The list does not include forthcoming publications.
When you have a new publication, the LIC welcomes reprints (2 copies please - one copy is on display and the other copy can go in traveling displays), or a copy of your book, article, etc. If you are unable to supply your publication, please use the form below to notify us.

Newspapers Faculty may order personal copies of various newspapers and journals, often at a reduced educational rate. Newspapers available include:

- The National Law Journal
- The New York Times

Photocopying Self-service copiers are available in the library. Faculty members may use their Widener ID to make copies. To arrange copying privileges for your research assistant, contact Campus Services.

Research Assistant Pool A pool of student research assistants is available to gather materials, photocopy, cite check or perform other short research tasks.
To use the RA pool, call x2262, send an
email, or call Mary Jane Mallonee (x2187) in Delaware or Ed Sonnenberg (x3932) in Harrisburg.
To authorize your own research assistant to borrow books, complete the Research Assistant form below and return it to the Circulation Desk.
