In advance of this year’s auction, a rare, limited edition Sandra Day
O’Connor bobblehead doll will be auctioned on EBay. The doll depicts
the former Supreme Court Justice standing beside a Hereford cow, that
represents the ranch which she grew up on in Arizona, and has a number
of other interesting details, including the Justice’s trademark ruffled
jabot and the tan pumps she wore at her swearing in ceremony.
Each year, The Public Interest Resource Center runs the Public Interest
Law Alliance Auction. PIRC Director Sydney Howe-Barksdale explains,
“All proceeds from the auction support the good work of the student
organization Public Interest Law Alliance which encourages students to
perform valuable public service.” In addition to providing valuable aid
to agencies and people in need of their help, students gain valuable
hands-on legal experience. Members of the Public Interest Law Alliance
gather donations for the auction, including contributions from faculty,
staff, and fellow students.
The PILA auction will take place on Tuesday, March 25th beginning at 10am, and will conclude that evening with the Third Annual Public Interest Reception beginning at 5:30pm in the Barristers’ Club.
