Justice Randy Holland participates in 2009 Qatar Law Forum

 hollandQuatarDelaware Supreme Court Justice Randy J. Holland, a Widener Law adjunct on the Delaware campus, traveled to Doha, Qatar in late May to participate as a featured panelist at the Qatar Law Forum, which ran from May 29th through the 31st. Justice Holland gave a presentation entitled From Delaware to Doha: The Legal Environment Necessary for Corporate Centers and Thriving Financial Markets, as part of a panel he was on with the General Counsel of the World Bank, the Chief Justice of Dubai’s International Financial Centre Court and General Counsel of the Malaysia Securities Commission.

The 2009 Qatar Law Forum, entitled Global Commitment to the Rule of Law, featured a keynote address by Lord Nicholas Phillips, President-Elect of the Supreme Court of England. Former Chief Justice of England Lord Harry Woolf and High Court Judge Sir William Blair, the brother of former Prime Minister Tony Blair, served as co-chairs for the event.

While at the Qatar Law Forum, Justice Holland appeared on the BBC World News in a thirty-minute segment with Lord Woolf and the Executive Director of the Dubai Economic Council, Lubna Qassim.

Attended by hundreds of judges and notable legal scholars from around the world who were specifically invited for the event, the Qatar Law Forum brought together global leaders in law to discuss topics such as the globalization of justice in the 21st century, international dispute resolution methods, legal reform in an Islamic context, and the legal environment for financial markets.

Justice Holland teaches courses in State Constitutional Law and Appellate Practice.
