On Tuesday, May 19th, the American Law Institute held a special luncheon honoring new life (25-year) members and new 50-year members as part of the 86th Annual Meeting held in Washington, D.C. Harrisburg Campus Vice Dean John L. Gedid
and Dean Linda L. Ammons
attended the luncheon, where Vice Dean Gedid was recognized by the American Law Institute as a new life member.
Helaine M. Barnett, President of Legal Services Corporation, served as the featured speaker at the luncheon. Before becoming President of the Legal Services Corporation in 2004, she served as a practicing lawyer with The Legal Aid Society of New York City. The recipient of the 2008 Fellows Award for Public Service from the ABA Young Lawyers Division, Ms. Barnett too became a new life member of the American Law Institute at the luncheon.
Of his 25 year service as an elected member of the Institute, Vice Dean Gedid reflected that participation in preparation of various restatements was not only an opportunity to directly improve and clarify the law, but was also a source of many insights into different areas of law that he brought into the classroom in his teaching.
