The Office of Alumni Relations and Development hosted two student volunteer phone-a-thons in November. Student Bar Association representatives participated in the first phone-a-thon on November 16, while volunteers from the Women’s Law Caucus staffed the second phone-a-thon on November 30th. Overall the event reached out to over 32 alumni and raised $1,295. These funds will benefit the Widener Law Fund, Harrisburg Moot Court, and the Wherry Trial Advocacy Endowment Fund.

Last year, the Office of Alumni Relations and Development initiated a student volunteer campaign in order to raise money for the Taking the Lead-Campaign. The office decided to host two more events this semester because of the success of the program last year.

Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Development Ashley Barton said, “I have enjoyed working with both groups that participated this fall and I look forward to partnering with even more students on this project during the spring semester. We have had great experiences with the student volunteers – the enthusiasm they bring to each calling session and the personal touch they add to each call is invaluable. Students are truly the best ambassadors to talk about the law school experience and update alumni on what’s going on here on campus because they are living it.”

Barton says that the Officer of Alumni Relations and Development is aiming to have 300 Harrisburg campus alumni donors by June 20, 2012. . Alumni wishing to make an online donation to the annual fund should visit http://alumni.widener.edu/.
