Widener Law Alumna to Take Office as U.S. Magistrate Judge

Schwab '92 will be held on the afternoon of Friday, February 8th at the Ronald Regan Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Schwab was appointed a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Pennsylvania at Harrisburg in November.

Sponsored by the Federal Bar Association, Middle District of PA Chapter; the Dauphin County Bar Association; and the PBA Commission on Women in the Profession, the ceremony will be followed by a reception at the State Museum of Pennsylvania.

Schwab, the 1992 Harrisburg campus class valedictorian, has served as a member of both the law school’s Board of Overseers and the Diversity Advisory Board. A graduate of Wilkes University, she has also has been active in the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession.

Following time at both Rhoads & Sinon LLP and Semanoff, Ormsby, Greenberg and Torchia LLC, Schwab left private practice for government service in 2001 and was appointed Deputy Chief Counsel for the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General and later for the Pennsylvania Treasury Department. She has also served as Deputy State Treasurer for Administration for the Pennsylvania Treasury Department. Most recently, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Deputy Chief Counsel for the Democratic Caucus of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
