Widener Welcomes International Law School Graduates

The Widener Master of Laws in Corporate Law and Finance attracts students from around the world. In recent years, we have had students from Africa, Asia, Europe, South America, and other countries in North America. They have brought a tremendous range of knowledge and experience to our program, which has greatly enriched the educational experience for both faculty and students. Widener welcomes foreign trained lawyers to its community and encourages them to apply.

Widener has a special curriculum designed to meet the needs of our foreign students. This curriculum is available for foreign students and American residents who received their legal training abroad. This includes a specialized course, for international students only, called "Introduction to United States Law and Legal Institutions." This course provides students with a basic background on the United States legal system, legal research and writing, and other topics to enhance students' performance in their other classes.

Widener is also willing to customize schedules for students seeking to qualify for a state bar examination while simultaneously completing the Master's program in Corporate Law and Finance. Interested students should contact the Director of Graduate Programs. Any student planning to sit for a bar examination bears the sole responsibility for contacting the relevant state board of examiners to learn the specific course requirements for that state.
