On March 8, 2008, the Law School hosted a novel program sponsored by the American Bar Association Section of Business Law, entitled the Delaware Business Law Forum. The Forum provided an opportunity for transactional business lawyers to meet with members of Delaware's bench and bar to discuss, in depth, an issue -- often described as "empty voting" -- of growing concern in corporate governance. Featured speakers included Professor Henry Hu of the University of Texas Law School, former Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice E. Norman Veasey, Delaware Secretary of State Harriet Smith Windsor, and Delaware Treasurer Jack Markell. In a panel moderated by James Cheek, Professor Hu and Delaware practitioner A. Gilchrist Sparks III reviewed the empirical and legal background of "empty voting." The program also included a panel on current developments in Delaware business law, with presentations by Widener Professor Ann Conaway, and Delaware practitioners Edward Welch, James Holzman and Matthew O'Toole
