The Widener Law Legal Information Center welcomed two new librarians during the fall semester as Sara Repinski joined the staff as the new Technical Services Team Leader on the Delaware campus and Susan Giusti came on as the Technical Services Team Leader in Harrisburg.

Susan began her career in public broadcasting in the Harrisburg area, before shifting her focus to banking and then settling into a career in librarianship working at a law firm where she spent seven years. “The firm I worked for had a variety of practice groups so I was able to learn a great deal about different areas of the law and their resources,” she says of her experiences. “I was happy to stay with law as a specialty since I already knew the resources,” she says of her new position, adding, “Being at Widener allows me to round out my experiences in a law library environment. I am now learning it from an academic viewpoint.”

Sara Repinski originally hails from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, she earned her Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. She spent four years as a solo librarian at a Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, South Carolina before joining the Law faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Law as the Catalog Librarian in 2006. She later became the Acquisitions and Serials Librarian and Technical Services Department Head before leaving to come to Widener Law. An avid football fan, Sara enjoys watching the Green Bay Packers and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

Both Sara and Susan were gracious enough to answer a few questions in order to introduce themselves to the Widener Law Community.

Q: Why did you choose to come to Widener?

A: I choose Widener for a couple of reasons: first, the professional opportunity; second, the people; and third, seasons, hopefully all four of them!

Q: What is your job title and what are some of the specific tasks that you will be performing?

A: My title is Technical Services Team Leader in the Legal Information Center. In a nutshell, I will be making sure that all the behind the scenes operations of the LIC run smoothly, from ordering materials to processing them.

Q: Do you have any future goals related to your position or the law school that you are either actively pursuing or hope to pursue?

A: One future goal is that I want to earn my MBA; I believe it will be a great advantage to me in my position here at Widener. I also look forward to getting more involved in AALL (American Association of Law Librarians), and getting involved in GPLLA (Greater Philadelphia Law Library Association), SLA (Special Libraries Association), IUG (Innovative Users Group), and MAIUG (Mid Atlantic Innovative Users Group) and other professional organizations.

Q: What is your job title and what are some of the specific tasks that you will be performing?

A: I am the Technical Services Team Leader on the Harrisburg campus. With my job I get to oversee and coordinate tasks and functions between the Harrisburg campus and the Delaware campus. This involves policies and procedures, statistics, claims, billing, and supervision of my team. I also serve as part of the research and instructional services team for reference and support, for faculty and students, as well as the public.

Q: What aspect of your new job or specific task that you will be performing excites you the most?

A: Being able to work with students, faculty, and staff and the integration of services it entails.

Q: Do you have any future goals related to your position or the law school that you are either actively pursuing or hope to pursue?

A: I am interested in the possibility of teaching a legal research class, creating library guides, and pursuing other avenues to market the library, its people, and its services.
